I am doing a science fair project on popcorn.

My expeirment is if anything could help pop popcorn more efficently. Such as soaking it in water, or using a certain type of oil.

Would you have any information on this?

First, let me compliment you on your brilliant choice in science fair topics. Popcorn is a really interesting food and there are a number of experiments you can do using popcorn. Plus, you get to eat the results!

I don' t know that there's anything that can MAKE popcorn pop more efficiently, aside from what the manufacturer recommends. But moisture is key in making sure your popcorn pops, so I'd recommend soaking some kernels, drying out some kernels, and measuring these against properly stored popcorn.

Good luck!

I need help! I can't identify all of the variables, constants, and controls in my popcorn project! My project is about: What temperature is the best place to store popcorn for the least amount of unpopped kernels; counter, refrigerator, or freezer? My conclusion was counter at room temperature. But now the only thing I'm stuck on is the variable, constant, and control part! PLEASE HELP!!!

@Anne, I'm sorry I couldn't help, but the variables and controls in an experiment are those that you set up and can only be answered by you. I'm sure you figured it out and hopefully had fun in the process.

@Dredrick, there is no pat answer. Storage conditions can effect any brand you choose, so pick a few, pop them up and see for yourself. Yum!

There are fun facts about popcorn all over this web site! Look under Encyclopedia Popcornica, look at the information found on the left side of each page, and look under About Us> Popcorn Poppin' Month> Fun Popcorn Facts.
