Unpopped to Popped

If a recipe calls for 8 cups of popped popcorn, what quantity of kernels will you need? Use this handy guide for measuring and you'll end up with just the right amount every time (although it never hurts to have a little extra!).

1 ounce, 1/8 cup, or 2 tablespoons of kernels will yield 1 quart of popped popcorn. 1/4 cup of kernels will yield 2 quarts of popped popcorn. 1/2 cup of kernels will yield 4 quarts of popped popcorn.
